Freo Group was engaged to deliver specialised heavy lifting and logistics solutions for the Flyers Creek Wind Farm, a 145.5 MW renewable energy development located approximately 20 kilometres south of Orange, New South Wales. The scope covered the full lifting program across all 38 wind turbines, encompassing heavy lift planning, crane supply and operation, and the precision installation of tower sections, nacelles and rotor components at heights exceeding 150 metres. Freo Group also managed site logistics and the movement of oversized components throughout the project, providing a complete craneage and lifting service from mobilisation through to final turbine erection.
Delivering lifting operations across a regional project site presented inherent logistical and technical challenges, particularly in managing the transport and handling of oversized turbine components within a constrained environment away from major infrastructure. The complexity of executing lifts at heights exceeding 150 metres, including the installation of nacelles weighing over 100 tonnes, demanded precise lift planning, purpose-configured crawler crane setups and highly experienced personnel to maintain safety and programme certainty. Freo Group met these demands by deploying its specialised renewable energy crane fleet alongside a skilled team of operators, riggers and supervisors, drawing on deep wind farm construction experience to safely deliver the works with nil lost time injuries recorded across the project.
